Robotics Programs 2025‑26

Forge Makerspace will offer three distinct team-based competition programs—VEX IQ, VEX V5 (VRC), and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)—each designed to challenge and inspire students at different grade levels and experience.

Please fill out our interest form by July 31st if you are interested in your student joining one of our teams!

Team Differences

  • VEX IQ (Grades 4–8)
    Table-top plastic robots. Perfect for beginners—lightweight builds, basic sensors, and team-based problem solving.
    Teams are split into elementary (4th–5th) and middle school (6th–8th) divisions.

  • VEX V5 (VRC) (Grades 6–12)
    Metal robots with more power, complexity, and coding. Great for students looking to level up their skills.
    Teams are split into middle school (6th–8th) and high school (9th–12th) divisions.

  • FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) (Grades 9–12)
    Full-size industrial robots up to 120 lbs. Real-world engineering sprint with CAD, fabrication, wiring, and advanced programming. FRC students also gain access to over $80 million in exclusive scholarships, powerful college application credentials, and direct exposure to university recruiters and tech industry mentors.

Program Overview

VEX IQ (Grades 4–8)

  • Tuition: $485/month

  • Team Size: 4-6 students

  • Time Commitment: 2 sessions/week (1 hour 45 minutes each), optional weekend sessions, 2–4 competitions

VEX V5 (VRC) (Grades 6–12)

  • Tuition: $585/month

  • Team Size: 4-6 students

  • Time Commitment: 2 sessions/week (1 hour 45 minutes each), optional weekend sessions, 2-4 competitions

First Robotics (FRC) (Grades 9–12)

  • Tuition: $875/month (Unlimited Open Makerspace included in this price)

  • Team Size: 10-15 students

  • Time Commitment: 2–4 meetings/week (~10–15 hours/week during build season)

We will create multiple teams with schedules based on your responses to this form, attempting to accommodate as many students as possible. Schedules will be posted the first week of August!
